Darkest Light
It's dangerous, leaving them unattended.
A chill runs through me. I walk a little faster.
I feel their eyes follow me. The screaming intensifies as I pass, but I can't look. I mustn't. If I acknowledge them, they'll see me.
I can't save them.
I release the breath I didn't know I held as the darkest light and quietest screams fade behind me. Mustn't look back, can't look back. They'll see me.
